What is the UniqueMark Digital Certificate?
UniqueMark® is the first Digital Certificate from the Portuguese Assay Office, launched by the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda (INCM).
This system represents a historic milestone: it is the adaptation of precious metal certification, a practice dating back to the 13th century, to the digital age.
According to the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda (Portuguese Mint), UniqueMark® does not replace traditional punch or laser marking, but rather complements it, adding an additional layer of security, traceability, and trust.
Each piece of jewellery comes with a label and a card with a unique cryptographic code, which allows you to access the digital certificate and confirm the authenticity of the piece via a smartphone (Contrastaria app), simply and immediately.
Innovation that elevates Portuguese tradition
This project was developed by the INCM Innovation Network, in partnership with the University of Coimbra, and aims to protect consumers, economic operators and the State against counterfeiting. More than just digital certification, UniqueMark® represents a new paradigm in the relationship between consumers and jewellery, allowing them to:

- Consult details about laboratory testing and hallmarks;
- View videos about the creation process and the artisans involved;
- Personalise gift messages and save special moments;
- Record the unique history of the jewellery over time.
