OUR COMMITMENT TOGETHER FOR A MORE RESPONSIBLE WORLDWe work with family-owned studios whose histories pass from generation to generation just as their pieces do. Pieces that speak history. Behind each handmade gem there are people, artisans, designers, creators, and artists that dedicate their lives to keeping this intricate art that is jewelry making alive. We focus on what is national and what is local. More and more we support Portuguese jewelry making, especially the craft of certified handmade filigree. A single piece of handmade filigree can take days, weeks or even months before it is ready and it demands expertise, knowledge which we cannot afford to lose and, for that reason, our priority is to defend those passionate about national jewelry making. We challenge artisans to modernize in order that we may be able to keep the traditions and techniques of Portuguese Jewelry Making very much alive today. The sustainability of our pieces is also part of our strategy. We have gems that were once “old,” but took on new lives through their renovation or transformation, thus maintaining a cycle of re-creation. As sustainability is cultivated by the preservation of the pieces we sell, we have some advice as to how your gems should be treated. This is our commitment to a more sustainable world in solidarity with the history and tradition of Portuguese Jewelry Making. |
